Chandler Macleod in partnership with Kangan Institute & Bendigo TAFE, are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Child Safety Officers for their sites located across metro and regional Victoria.
Site locations include:
Regional: Bendigo, Echuca or Castlemaine (based at one, travel between others)
Melbourne Metro: Broadmeadows, Cremorne, Essendon or Docklands (based at one, travel between others)
The Child Safety Officer will undertake significant creative, strategic planning and management to develop organisation wide action plans for continuous improvement best practices objectives, with a focus on ensuring the professionalism of operational and developmental activities to promote compliance with the Child Safe Standards.
The Child Safety Officer will develop, implement, and review major policies, objectives, strategies involving high level liaison and/or consultation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to promote BKI's commitment to Child Safety and strategic direction. They are the central authority for reporting and escalating allegations and Child Safety concerns for staff, volunteers, students, families, and the wider community, in line with relevant policy and procedure and will contact the relevant authorities when there are concerns about a child's safety, and provide advice in regards to obligations of others.
They will be responsible for managing Child Safety incidents received and liaise with stakeholders, monitoring incidents to resolution, provide specialist advice and strategies to appropriately respond to and provide students impacted ongoing support. Promoting the empowerment of children and young people, in particular the cultural safety, participation, and empowerment of students, including children, from Indigenous, culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, those with disabilities and LGBTQIA.
They will work in collaboration with the Student Support Leadership team to promote holistic and appropriate care when working with children and young people, particularly those identified as being at risk, and within the wider student support team. As well as working in collaboration with Education Delivery teams to promote holistic and appropriate care when working with children and young people, particularly those identified as being at risk.
Role details:
· Term : 3 months at this stage (unpaid Christmas holiday from 23 Dec to 7 January) with an asap start
· Hire type : Temporary Agency Staff
· FTE : Full-time (would consider part-time)
Salary : Ongoing equivalent range = $102,582 - $111,747 (plus 11%) super.
Approx. $55 per hour plus super for hourly equivilant
You will need to have a relevant tertiary qualification (see PD), AND eligibility for membership to one (or more) of the following:
- Australian Psychological Society (APS)
- Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
- Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
Current Working with Children Check (Employer) card or receipt
- Current Police Check or receipt
- Right to work documentation
- Two references
- Evidence of qualification
- Evidence of eligibility for membership of at least one of APS, AASW, PACFA, ACA.
