About your new role

We are currently seeking expressions of interest to fill numerous engineering vacancies within the E&LA business unit.

We are looking to establish a new team, full of new people, who will pioneer a new way of working withinCity Development.  The new team will be responsible for assessing development applications across all engineering disciplines including water supply, sewerage, solid waste, stormwater, flooding, roads, geotechnical, and transport.  This will provide new team members with the opportunity to gain engineering knowledge and experience across multiple disciplines and manage the various opportunities and risks associated with each discipline.

The City will provide training and access to experienced professionals who will assist with getting this new team up and running.  There will also be opportunities for engineers to attend site inspections to see the impact of their work and improve the way we work with other teams within the City. We are actively seeking people who are motivated to learn and happy to be involved with creating a new way of working in City Development.

In keeping with the City’s commitment to flexible working, we are keen to see applications from all suitable engineers, including those who are full time in the industry and those who are returning from parental leave or other extended leave from work (travel etc.).  The City is willing to work with people who have commitments outside of work (such as school drop off or study) and negotiating a flexible work arrangement.  We are also happy to look at job share arrangements for the right candidates where part-time work works better for you. We have jobs which need doing, and we are open to trying new ways of getting the work done!

We are looking for people with various levels of skill and experience.  Should a candidate be suitable for a position, the level/salary offered will be based on the available role and the candidate’s knowledge and experience.

We're looking for people who:

•    Can effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
•    Can interpret and implement engineering standards and associated legislation or be willing to learn. (The City will provide training specific to your role).
