Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the Head of Claims with claims transformation project activities designed to build scale and improve operational performance of the Claims Department. In addition, you will gather and analyse reporting data, make recommendations based on your analysis and design and plan initiatives to implement your recommendations. Coupled with this you will document and map existing and new processes and procedures. Finally, the role will monitor and measure quality control adherence to current and new processes.
Key Accountabilities
Process Mapping, Documentation, Design and Improvement
  • Work with internal stakeholders to design, document and map business processes across the Claims Department.
  • Utilise a Lean Six Sigma methodology to identify opportunities for improvements to business processes and assist senior management with the implementation of the changes.
  • Ensure processes comply with regulatory requirements and management Agreements in consultation with the Legal and Risk Advisory teams.
  • Review, update and maintaining existing procedure manuals as required.
  • Creating new process manuals where required.
Business Analysis
  • Gather and analyse reporting data to guide decision making and improve operational performance.
  • Provide analysis on member and supplier activities to gain insights into key service and performance drivers.
  • Provide statistical, financial, economic and market information to assist in forecasting and develop financial models to assist with forecasting.
  • Create new claims reports and maintain current reporting suite.
Quality Control
  • Monitor and analyse service data to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Monitor and measure adherence to current processes.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are implemented as part of any process improvement initiatives.
Projects
  • Support Head of Claims and external consultants with claims transformation project activities to facilitiate accurate and timely delivery of project deliverables that fit within your remit.
  • As directed by the Head of Claims, support various special projects and initiatives.
Training/Communications
  • Work closely with Claims Leadership team to support team member training for any changes to processes.
  • Collaborating with L&D to ensure relevant training materials are created to communicate change.
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
  • Have high level analytical skills for collecting, interpreting and evaluating business processes and reporting with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and communicate areas for improvement with creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in report-style writing.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management skills to effectively plan and prioritise tasks to ensure delivery within set deadlines.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and work streams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience working with teams to achieve outcomes.
  • Capable of working with groups that are outside the formal line of authority (e.g. peers, senior managers).
Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Financial Services (Insurance experience is preferred).
  • Experience in documenting and mapping processes.
Qualifications
  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt qualifications.
