Job description

Let's talk about nib Thrive
nib's vision is better health and wellbeing for all Australians. We know there are few greater opportunities for us to have a meaningful social impact than in keeping people healthy, and now, in supporting people with disabilities. We plan to do this through innovative, human and digital solutions to make a difference to people who seek convenience, accessibility and inclusion.

nib Thrive is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) business for the nib Group. In November 2022, nib acquired its first registered NDIS Plan Manager, since then we have continued to grow. We are now House of Brands who all operate as part of the nib Thrive family. nib Thrive currently supports more than 27,000 NDIS participants and is on track to reach its goal of supporting at least 50,000 participants by FY25. nib Thrive is currently one of the top three largest plan managers in Australia.

Let's talk about diversity, equity and inclusion
We embrace a flexible working environment and welcome candidates that reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate. We actively encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ as well as culturally diverse community members to apply for open roles.

nib Group is committed to creating an accessible recruitment process and employment experience. If you identify as a person living with disability and require adjustments to our online application, recruitment, selection and/or assessment process, please contact us at nibemployment@ nib.com.au.

Let's talk about this role

This position has a blend of data processing and clerical requirements as well as being participant-focused for us to build and maintain quality relationships and support our participants to receive a high-quality plan management service. This role presents the opportunity to gain a broader knowledge of the NDIS and make a valuable contribution to a passionate and customer-focused team.
Let's talk about you;

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to respond to telephone and email enquiries from new and existing participants, always aiming to deliver solution-focused participant support
  • Demonstrated experience in managing challenging telephone calls
  • Strong computer and data entry skills and demonstrated capacity to use MS Office packages
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and capacity to work autonomously in a fast paced and changing environment to meet required timeframes
  • Sound ability to process financial documents through accurate data entry with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy
  • Prior experience working in a team setting as well as autonomously
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, build and maintain strong relationships with participants, families and carers, displaying empathy, understanding and sensitivity to the needs of the participant
  • Willingness to effectively communicate with a diverse range of people, including people living with disability, cultural diversity and language other than English, and be able to adjust ways of working to support best-practice inclusion and accessibility with participants and stakeholders
  • Possess or ability to obtain prior to commencement a NDIS Commission 'Worker Screening' check. You will also be required to undertake any new or additional checks required by legislation or the NDIS
This is a 6-month fixed term contract with the opportunity to extend to 12-months. Available for people located near the Ballarat office or one of nib's hubs!

At nib, we recognise that some people may only apply when their education, skills and/or experiences are identical to what an employer is looking for in a candidate. We're always on the lookout for curious individuals who will add to the culture at nib Group - so if this role resonates with you, please apply!
