At Mars Petcare Australia, we’re significantly stepping-up its sustainability commitments, execution and visibility with an ambitious Climate Action Strategy and bold sustainability initiatives under the umbrella of the Sustainable in a Generation Plan.

As our Climate & Sustainability Project Manager you’ll support the newly formed ANZ Climate and Sustainability Team for the successful delivery of Mars commitments in multiple areas, including combating climate change, scaling up initiatives in regenerative agriculture and redesigning global supply chains to make them more sustainable and resilient.

The Climate & Sustainability Project Manager will be partly responsible for the execution of the regional Pet Nutrition action plan delivering carbon reductions and other environmental and social improvements in line with the global sustainability commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with the Regional Climate and Sustainable Sourcing Lead and the Global Sustainability Data & Analytics Lead, maintain, track and report robust data on program scope and performance across the regional supply chain.
• Work to identify data gaps or issues to progress towards more streamlined and precise sustainability data, helping inform and shape strategic choices and business decisions. 
• Coordinate annual sustainability reporting campaign with suppliers.
• Effectively lead and deploy key initiatives under the regional climate action plan through constant collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders (project management).
• Identify region-specific opportunities for climate impact reduction
• Support additional ad hoc initiatives and special projects necessary to unlock our ability to address, adapt, and deliver on sustainable sourcing in line with evolving internal and external expectations.
• Serve as a key functional expert and sustainability leader in the region, providing support, guidance and coaching to commercial buyers and other relevant stakeholders,
• Supporting the operationalization of sustainability initiatives, ensuring their relevance for the region and regional brands.

 What are we looking for?

• A bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Business or similar
• A minimum of 5 years working in the climate and sustainability field and proven track record in sustainability data analytics and sustainable project management.
• Excellent project management, program management and communication skills, ability to thrive in a diverse, rapidly changing and constantly evolving environment.
• Great learning agility and ability to navigate ambiguity
• Must be comfortable handling a large volume of data.
• Good understanding of climate change issues and relevant policies, financing and technology solutions, ability to interpret complex environmental data and trends, including scope 1/2/3 carbon accounting, Life Cycle Assessment, various sustainability standards and reporting frameworks (CDP, CDSB, GHG Accounting, IMP, SDGs, SASB, IIRC, IFC, etc).
• Ability to articulate complex topics in a clear way, as well as to present, explain and discuss them within all levels of the organization.
