ABOUT US
The Australian Dental Association NSW Centre for Professional Development (ADA NSW CPD) is a leading national education provider of professional development activities for dentists and their teams. The Centre’s world-class facilities, including a 25-seat clinical training centre, 4 dental training bays and sterilisation room, are used for courses and events, hands-on workshops, venue hire and live broadcasts/webinars. We also run external conferences and engage with the wider dental community to inspire, support and empower dental professionals in the advancement of oral health.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Proven clinical experience in a dental setting (min. 3 years),
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting preferred but not essential,
- Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Dental Radiography) preferred but not essential,
- A demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse backgrounds,
- A service-oriented style with professional manner and exceptional customer service,
- A friendly, positive and helpful attitude,
- The ability to multi-task and prioritise, with excellent organisational and time management skills,
- Self-motivation and be punctual, adaptable and receptive to input from others,
- Strong communication skills,
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment,
- A willingness to take initiative and look for ways to improve processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Monitoring the facilities, equipment and instruments on a routine basis,
- Preparing course materials, x-rays, training models and participant kits/trays in advance of course days,
- Assisting in the preparation of course planning,
- Welcoming presenters, and participants on arrival,
- Providing chairside and general clinical assistance to presenters and participants throughout the day,
- Setting up the clinical training centre and lecture room for courses, hires and other ADA NSW events, including assembling or disassembling microscopes or other equipment as needed,
- Ensuring the frasaco heads and simulation units are in working order,
- Ensuring guests are aware of the IPC procedures in the facility,
- Appropriate removal of clinical waste,
- Monitoring stock and alerting the Clinical Coordinator if materials or equipment need replacing,
- Answering questions around the use of CPD equipment in Dental Training Bays and Clinical Training Centre,
- Sterilisation of instruments (human use and non-human use, according to the appropriate process),
- Cleaning and maintenance of surgeries, lecture room and training centre after each workday (or as required when not in use),
- Providing support to Clinical Coordinator during inventory and stocktakes throughout the year when required,
- Assisting Clinical Coordinator to ensure all Clinical Procedures are documented and kept up to date,
- Occasional travel to support off-site educational programs, both in NSW and interstate,
- Complying with ADA NSW policies and procedures to ensure a professional and safe work environment for self and others,
- Adhering to Work, Health and Safety policies and procedures,
- Adhering to the Safe Food Handling and Infection Control requirements,
- Assigned additional responsibilities and projects on an ad-hoc basis, including occasional weekend work, under the supervision of the CPD manager, based on skills and experience.
