Clinical Assistant Phlebotomist

You will Perform efficient and timely phlebotomy duties in a safe manner by following Pathology Queensland guidelines.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrated in-depth, or ability to acquire knowledge of specimen collection, and the ability to perform phlebotomy on a wide range of patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
* Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, Clinical Pathology and the use of medical and scientific terminology.
* Demonstrated client focus skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with a wide range of clients and staff.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with and without direct supervision. Ability to prioritize workloads to meet specific deadlines.
* Ability to work shifts as rostered to ensure service provision to our clients.
* A demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement, and an understanding of the basis of laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs.
* Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
* While not mandatory a relevant qualification in Specimen Collection would be well regarded.
* Participation in the weekend/public holiday roster.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements
* It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
* Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
* Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (i.e. one HHS to another HHS, department to a HHS, or HHS to department).
