  • Part-time (0.5 FTE), 12-month fixed-term opportunity

  • An opportunity to provide clinically relevant technical, operational, and intellectual support to the Brain and Mind Centre part of the FMH Translational Research Collective

  • Base salary $104,633 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

Brain and Mind Centre's Youth Mental Health and Technology team conduct research across several streams that explore digital pathways, systems science, and access to mental health care for young people. Extensive collaborations with health service providers, industry, government, philanthropic and research organisations enable us to quickly and effectively translate our research findings into large-scale health system innovations and mental health policy reform, facilitating continuous improvements to mental health services for the benefit of young people in Australia.

The Senior Clinical Research Officer/Clinical Facilitator will work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary clinical/research team. This position will be responsible for providing clinically relevant support to the Brain and Mind Centre's Youth Mental Health and Technology team. This includes supporting the management and delivery of a health services clinical trial, regular data monitoring and care coordination, preparing relevant educational materials, performing fundamental aspects of clinical research work, working with clinicians, academics, and youth mental health service providers, and contributing to the efficient operation of the research work area by providing essential clinical research support.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support working clinicians and clinical services to strengthen and meet the overall research objectives

  • understand the research utility of data outputs to test the impacts of individual-level and health service interventions in the mental health context

  • provide clinical support during the planning, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination stages of research protocols across the Youth Mental Health & Technology team

  • present key clinical research outcomes across various audiences and young people with a lived mental health experience

  • independently collect research data, enter/store in appropriate statistical software and prepare statistical analysis/reports

  • contribute to and coordinate the research and administration activities

  • support communication with relevant institutions along with stakeholder management with multiple partners

  • assist with writing ethics applications/modifications and contribute to the preparation of documentation for publications and presentations

  • support digital technology implementation and youth models of care with mental health services

  • assist with the preparation of research outputs (i.e. journals, conference papers and other publications)

  • will require you to travel to between different locations throughout NSW

About you

  • Masters qualifications in Professional or Clinical Psychology/ Social Work/ Counselling/ Mental Health Nursing and/or relevant experience in a related discipline (a postgraduate qualification or progress towards one will be highly valued but is not essential

  • has experience working in a research-intensive environment, and/or delivering or coordinating care in youth mental health

  • has excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters

  • has extensive experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications

  • has the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

  • has excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters.

  • has skills in data analysis, using statistical analysis tools, and reporting on research findings

  • has research and scientific literary searches experience together with preparing literary reviews for further analysis, using statistical software, drafting manuscripts, and preparing conference presentations

  • has experience in coordinating and facilitating workshops across different stakeholder groups including clinical and academic disciplines.
