The Prosthetics and Orthotics Services at Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced Orthotist/Prosthetist - Advanced for a temporary part-time role, working 12 hours per fortnight, commencing 08/04/2024 - 19/01/2025, with a possible 12 month extension.
The Orthotist/Prosthetist - Advanced will deliver advanced level orthotic/prosthetic clinical services to patients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service and provide leadership for the delivery of orthotics and prosthetics services.
Townsville University Hospital, located adjacent to one of Queensland’s leading tertiary institutions, James Cook University, is the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, providing specialist referral services for 700,000 people living from Mackay, to the Torres Strait, to the Northern Territory border.

Role requirements
Nursing
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a required qualification for this position.
- Good Clinical Practice Certificate (GCP) (or willingness to acquire once appointed).
- Highly desirable: Clinical experience in respiratory.
Allied Health
- The successful applicant must hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in an Allied Health (Health Practitioner) discipline recognised by Queensland Health; and as applicable.
- be registered/provisionally registered with the relevant national registration board, or
- be accredited with the relevant professional association, or
- be eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
- Good Clinical Practice(GCP) Certificate (or willingness to acquire after commencement).
- Highly desirable: Clinical experience in respiratory.

- Demonstrated knowledge across the legislative and regulatory guidelines related to research.
- Demonstrated evidence of high-level interpersonal skills, including high level written and oral communication skills, with the ability to consult and communicate with staff at all levels, with ability in negotiating and influencing.
- Demonstrated high level ability to identify problems and opportunities within a complex environment and identify solutions and strategies to meet them.
- Clinical experience in Respiratory / Clinical Trials desirable although not mandatory.
