About the Role:
This is a part-time fixed-term position at 53.20 hours (FTE 0.7) per fortnight from 12/02/2024 to 14/06/2024 as a Clinical Nurse Consultant- Stroke Programme. This role sits within the Department of Neurology and is part of an ongoing initiative to improve medical and surgical management of children with arterial ischaemic, haemorrhagic and venous strokes, as well as complications of neurovascular disorders.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivery of expert care for RCH patients presenting with suspected stroke or a recent cerebrovascular event, young people at risk for stroke, and ongoing neurological management as an inpatient, or in the outpatient setting.
- Ensuring RCH systems, staff and processes continue to improve delivery of world-class care for patients with suspected acute ischaemic stroke.
- Collaborate with local /international study investigators to develop new studies in neonatal and paediatric stroke, as well as maintaining oversight on established stroke research projects, and stroke databases.
- Maintain hospital-wide awareness of neonatal/childhood stroke, including recognition of acute stroke signs and symptoms, code stroke clinical management pathways, and maintaining 24/7 access to stroke resources for clinical staff.
- Provide professional leadership for the development and implementation of innovative models to enhance the integration of evidence-based practice.
