What you’ll be doing in this role:
You will be working in the role of Clinical Nurse Educator within our 29-bed neurology & neurosurgery Radley Ward which offers a dynamic mix of great learning opportunities in the neuroscience specialties.
Our services include acute stoke care pre and post brain and spinal surgeries neuro oncology surgeries and general adult neurology cases such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraines, seizures and others.
In your role as a clinical educator, your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide education and support to both the neuro and associated multidisciplinary teams
- Develop and implement education programs and documents in consultation with the Education Manager and the Nurse Unit Manager
- Facilitate department orientation for new staff and nursing students and supporting with skills assessments and competencies
- Be a positive role model for clinical nursing, ensuring best practice is taught, in line with AHCL’s policies and procedures
- Be an advocate for Work, Health and Safety and ensure legislation is adhered to by leading by example and reporting any hazards or risks as appropriate
- Wholeheartedly contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous quality improvement and
- Actively contributing to a culture of comradery and teamwork
As the Clinical Nurse Educator for the Radley Ward you will join our dedicated, supportive educator team where caring for patients, fellow nurses and ourselves is our priority.
Who we are looking for:
- Demonstrate sound knowledge and clinical skills in neuroscience with the ability to plan, implement and evaluate education programs, along with nursing skills assessments and learning packages
- Be a proven mentor to fellow nurses and other healthcare professionals
- The ability to work part time (16 hours) morning shifts, Mon - Friday
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, nursing best practices and individual patient-centred care
- Proven ability to build a positive and professional rapport with patients, their families and your colleagues.
- You’ll be empathetic, systematic, detail-oriented, have great time management and prepared to embrace Adventist Healthcare’s everyday values of excellence and integrity
- Current AHPRA registration, and preferably, you will have also completed the NSW Health DETECT, Between the Flags Program and Bloodsafe Clinical Transfusion Practice program
