The CNE provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of Clinical Nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff. Provides clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

All Registered Nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by: NSW Ministry of Health, The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District & Prince of Wales Hospital.
Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification or 3 years clinical experience in the field
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles)
  • Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment
  • Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems
