The successful candidate must have experience in the development and delivery of clinical education within the clinical environment of the Recovery Unit, where the CNE is an essential nursing resource providing opportunities for staff career development.
This role will work collaboratively with the MQ Health Academy to plan, develop and facilitate education hospital wide and within the department by promoting a culture of development and inquiry.

Key Accountabilities of the role include (not limited to):
- Provide clinical expertise in the development and facilitation of learning within the Clinical Recovery Unit and MQ Health Academy
- Provide evidence-based support to all nursing staff within Recovery Unit to meet standards of care
- Lead the development and facilitation of identified mandatory and continuing professional development education
- Work collaboratively with the Nurse Educators, Clinical and Perioperative Services to develop the capacity of preceptors to support nursing students, new graduate nurses and new nursing staff members
- Support Nursing Unit Managers (NUM) to coordinate standardised orientation of nursing students and new starters in the department
- Coordinate and monitor pathways and progressions of nursing staff within Recovery Unit
- Provide subject matter expertise in the development of education within MQ Health Academy, Clinical Services and Recovery Unit
- Provide education support for clinical practice improvement projects to address identified audit outcomes as directed by the NUM and Nurse Educator, Clinical Practice Improvement and Research
- Participate in the identification, design and implementation of quality improvement activities, including policy review and development, self-initiated and directed by other members of MQ Health

- Demonstrated relevant and current experience in teaching or education and a demonstrated commitment to clinical teaching of others
- Demonstrated relevant and current experience (minimum 5 years) in Recovery Unit/PACU either as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Clinical Nurse Educator
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and delegate tasks to achieve individual and team KPI's
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances
- Demonstrates and practices effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills and actively develops good listening skills
- Evidence of professional development commensurate with the level of autonomy and authority expected of the position
- Well-developed computer skills including the use of electronic medical records systems, MS Word, Excel and web-based research
Role Specific Conditions:
- Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Minimum 5 years recent experience in specialty areas
- Postgraduate qualification in Adult Education OR commitment to attain within 3 years of appointment
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or working towards the same (desirable)
- Valid Working with Children Check
