The Renal ward is a dynamic area caring for patients undergoing investigations and treatments for renal diagnoses. The desired CNE will share their renal knowledge with the unit to promote staff development. Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital is a 440 bed tertiary referral facility with specialties unique to this campus such as hyperbaric medicine, acute spinal cord injuries and interventional neuroradiology. Each year we support approximately 25,000 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and thousands of outpatient treatments. We provide a 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) supported by an Intensive Care Unit and pioneering telehealth facilities in stroke and COVID-19, to connect the team in Randwick with specialists across NSW Health. A new Acute Service Building opened in March with state of the art modern facilities aimed at providing an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

The Prince of Wales Hospital Renal service is a tertiary service which undertake procedures to diagnose and treat renal disease,
Dickinson 4 is the 16-bed acute Renal unit at Prince of Wales Hospital caring for patients with renal disease. The renal Unit collaboratively work with the dialysis service supporting patients through their renal and dialysis treatments.
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) Renal provides the coordination, delivery and evaluation of Clinical Nurse education (including programs) on Renal Unit . This includes orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff including the development of team leaders. The role is also required to provide clinical supervision at the point of care clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

All Registered Nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by: NSW Ministry of Health, The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District & Prince of Wales Hospital.
Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
