Position Summary

Clinical Nurse, Intake & Triage - Mental Health Unit | Buderim Private Hospital

  • Employment Term: Full Time Opportunity
  • Location: Buderim, Sunshine Coast
  • Remuneration: $52.95 - $56.74 phr + 11% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging + Penalties & Allowances

 The Cooinda Mental Health inpatient unit is a state-of-the-art 33-bed acute unit for those aged 18 and over. With private, well-equipped rooms, patients have use of the dining room, laundry, lounge areas, visitors' lounge, outdoor areas, music room, art and craft room, therapy rooms and gymnasium. Our service provides assessment and evidence-based treatment for patients experiencing, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)/trauma, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, addictions, complex needs due to a mental illness, as well as young adult and older persons Mental Health needs.

Your part in Buderim Private Hospital

A key role within Cooinda Mental Health Service, you’ll be responsible for managing effective intake, referral and assessment processes that supports timely and appropriate access to Cooinda Mental Health Service. Additionally, you’ll support Cooinda clinicians in the coordination of complex discharges to ensure successful discharges are achieved.

Working under the direction of our Clinical Nurse Manager, you’ll liaise with credentialed Psychiatrists to effectively triage and assess referrals to Cooinda Mental Health Service including external referring health providers such as GP’s, Psychiatrists and Psychologists. You’ll also work with the Director of Psychiatry and Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure that robust, responsive and recovery-oriented admission pathways are in place and adhered to.

With highly-developed communication and problem-solving skills, you’ll demonstrate a thorough and empathetic approach to patient management, providing exceptional person-centred care to patients and their loved ones. You’ll be confident dealing with external practitioners, providing a high-level of customer service when coordinating referrals. With an ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Relevant and current registration with AHPRA
  • A minimum 5 years recent experience in a post-registration Mental Health environment
  • Evidence of the ability to undertake comprehensive, detailed Mental Health assessments
  • A recovery and patient oriented approach to providing Mental Health care
  • An ability to work with a range of people and organisations including GP’s, carers, consumers, NGO’s and Public Health departments.
  • Sound understanding of appropriate referral networks
