About You
The Clinical Nurse Specialist 2 (CNS2) is an expert nurse who will provide leadership, advice, and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and on matters relating to the safe and appropriate management of Blood Bourne Virus conditions.
Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:
1 Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), Blood Borne Virus/ Sexual Health Nursing or Clinical trials.
2. High Levels of interpersonal communication skills
3. Excellent organisational skills, Time management and Clinical record administration.
4. Phlebotomy skills are not essential but are an advantage.
About The Opportunity
The Blood Bourne Virus Screening and treatment Program works within the Drug Health Service This is an autonomous Nursing role within the South Western Sydney Drug Health – Blood Borne Virus program. You will be screening and care coordinating community clients at risk of Hepatitis C infection using both Rapid HCV PCR POCT and Dry Blood Spot technologies as part of the UNSW, TEMPO Study. The clinical hours will be split between the Liverpool and Bankstown Needle and syringe programs. The position is supported by the CNC BBV and the UNSW study coordinators.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 3 years relevant Full Time equivalent post registration experience and approved post graduate nursing/midwifery qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field, or such other qualification, or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in providing complex care in the relevant field.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise.
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care.
- Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
