This is a permanent position with Full Time, Part Time and Job Share to be considered for this role.
What you'll be doing
The position of Clinical Psychologist is located in the Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit (AMHIPU), Shellharbour Hospital. The AMHIPU is a 6 bed (declared) specialist acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit which cares for children and adolescents with serious Mental Health presentations. The unit provides a safe, developmentally appropriate and therapeutic environment.
The key function of this position is to provide evidence based assessment, information and treatment for young persons. This may involve brief interventions, assessment, initiating and managing planned treatment options, consultation and referral to other agencies or crisis management. A stepped care approach is recommended working with the young person and their family/carers to achieve their treatment goals.
The role will involve conducting psychological research and evaluation projects as required. This will involve collaborating with senior clinicians to implement research projects that can be disseminated and applied in clinical practice.
Plus undertake all duties a Psychologist and Senior Psychologist as described in the Award.

  • Must hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and AHPRA registration.
  • Extensive effective experience in assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with diverse client populations.
  • Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological evidence based practice in child and Adolescent Mental Health.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and problem solving skills.
  • An ability to liase and provide education to other health professionals.
  • Ability to work autonomously, provide supervision to students or others professionals and be part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current NSW Class C driver’s licence.
