Role Overview:
As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Azure-based solutions. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of cloud infrastructure while optimising performance and driving automation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Architecture Review Group to develop future architecture for Azure cloud-based solutions, aligned with Microsoft Azure Reference Architectures.
- Manage business-as-usual cloud infrastructure tasks, including provisioning, configuring, and maintaining resources.
- Drive the continuous evolution of DevOps within the organisation through automation (IaC). Develop and maintain deployment scripts and templates using tools such as Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, and Bicep. Implement automated resource provisioning and configuration management using Azure DevOps Pipelines and manage documentation and tasks with JIRA/Confluence.
- Enhance existing monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues. Analyse and troubleshoot infrastructure incidents for both on-premise and cloud environments, participating in a rostered on-call incident team.
- Ensure the secure and compliant operation of cloud platforms by implementing security controls and best practices within Azure environments, maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Essential Requirements:
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing Azure-based solutions.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Azure Cloud build and support roles.
- In-depth knowledge of Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and security.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, and Bicep.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation tools (e.g., Azure DevOps Pipelines, Azure DevOps Git).
- Strong understanding of cloud security concepts, identity and access management, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within Azure environments.
