Role Summary
The Clubs Financial Analyst will assist the Licensing and Industry Performance Manager in leading and driving the performance of racing clubs in Queensland.
The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a professional and experienced Financial Analyst to join the Club Partnerships and Assets team on a permanent basis.
The Clubs Financial Analyst will assist the Licensing and Industry Performance Manager in leading and driving the performance of racing clubs in Queensland by providing meaningful reporting and analysis of Clubs financial and non-financial operational data.
The role will ensure club financial information, RQ's club data warehouse and CRM data is validated and of a high-quality. Drive improved outcomes for data management, financial analysis, performance reporting, and establishing benchmarks to provide operating context and facilitate improved Club performance.
Key duties include:
- Coordinate the monthly club operational funding process by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of club data.
- Ensure clubs eligibility for funding is assessed and recommended in accordance with the terms set out in the Club Funding Agreements.
- Performing meaningful data analysis and modelling by consolidating and validating financial and non-financial data from clubs.
- Owning monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly club performance reporting.
- Assist with educating clubs on financial reporting and accounting treatments.
- Developing complex financial and operational analysis on Club/industry performance and projected forecasts to influence strategic decision making.
- Assessing the suitability of the Club funding model against Club operations by undertaking comprehensive analysis of Club operating activities.
The Success Profile
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business Management, Finance or related field and commensurate demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to manage competing needs of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to use tact and diplomacy when managing conflict.
- Superior ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity, work under pressure, show resilience and make effective decisions and recommendations.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills with impeccable attention to detail.
- Knowledge and understanding of the racing and/or wagering industry is desirable.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Excellent financial and analytical skills to ensure the highest level of data integrity and interpretation of incomplete or inaccurate information.
- Experience in report and dashboard creation.
- Ability to solve complex problems requiring consideration of a range of options.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Salesforce and Power Bi or similar application desirable.
- Professional membership is desirable.
