Mater is looking for a Financial Analyst - Transformation to join the Transformation team. Reporting to the Senior Director - Transformation and Advisory, this full-time role will be based at Mater Newstead.What you'll be doingThe Financial Analyst is a key contributor in driving the successful implementation of Transformation Project initiatives within Mater to improve patient outcomes, financial stewardship, operating effectiveness, and employee experience. Reporting to the Senior Director, Transformation and Advisory this role is focused on analysing financial performance to ensure achievement of financial targets and business outcomes.This role plays an integral role in ensuring successful financial transformation and providing in-depth financial analysis, strategic insights and actionable recommendations to drive positive and sustainable financial outcomes for Mater. The role will develop processes, and craft reporting and solutions for operational and project work. Leveraging strong analytical capabilities and effective stakeholder engagement skills, this position supports Transformation Projects to deliver positive change and promote excellence at Mater.About youYou will have Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, finance and meet the below criteria:
- Be familiar with healthcare data (inducing : DRGs, clinical costing etc)
- Proven experience as a Financial Analyst or a similar role, with a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience in implementing financial transformation in a complex environment.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Knowledge of industry-specific best practices and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Experience and understanding of accounting functions and application of accounting standards.
- Experience in preparing financial statements, preferably in a multi-entity environment with cost allocations.
- Ability to apply and comply with accounting standards, legislation and specific organisational policies, standards and protocols, and implement effective statutory and other external reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills, logical reasoning and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems.
- Strong problem-solving and conceptual skills to complement strong business acumen and technical financial analysis skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

- Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in various applications, including Office 365 applications, PowerBI or similar tools.
- Proven experience in being able to research and analyse information and make recommendations based on relevant evidence.
- Ability to identify issues that may hinder completion of tasks and find appropriate solutions.
- Understanding of core financial terminology, policies and processes, and knowledge of relevant recurrent and capital financial measures.
- Understanding of impacts of funding allocations on business planning and budgets, including value for money, choice between direct provision and purchase of services, and financial implications of decisions.
- Understanding of financial audits, reporting and compliance obligations.
