THE ROLE:

We are currently seeking a results-driven and motivated Collections Specialist to join our Finance team at our Head Office in Western Sydney.

Reporting to Group Financial Controller. 

• This position is Permanent Full-Time. 

We also provide Permanent Part-Time options, especially for returning mothers, with flexible hours, Monday through Friday, for the right fit.

The Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing delinquent B2B accounts for the business by ensuring that overdue customers pay their invoices, reducing the risk of bad debt, and maintaining positive relationships with our customers. Your ability to remedy overdue accounts quickly and with a high degree of success will see you succeed in this challenging role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contend with a high volume of incoming and outgoing communications daily.
• Proactively manage overdue customer accounts to ensure prompt invoice payments, including assessing creditworthiness and coordinating with debt collection agencies and customers for payment arrangements.
• Contribute to the dispute resolution process to achieve the best outcome for the business.
• Build stakeholder relationships with the Shared Services Finance Team and Sales teams.
• Diligently follow up on missed payment arrangements and negotiate new terms when necessary.
• Negotiate with challenging customers to ensure timely resolution of outstanding debts. 
• Thoroughly review and analyze documentation related to customer accounts and reports.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of debt recovery challenges by drawing on your well-rounded knowledge of the B2B legal recovery process while adhering to company policies and laws.
• Understand business needs, meet expectations, and respond professionally to requests or inquiries.
• Perform other required ad hoc tasks.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated 3+ years of successful B2B collections experience in a high-volume setting;
• A background in call centre collections with exposure to B2B collections.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Proficient in building relationships, negotiating effectively, and handling challenging conversations, including resolving payment issues and addressing objections;
• Natural problem-solving abilities and aptitude for providing solutions;
• Strong prioritization skills, meeting deadlines, and a quick grasp of new concepts;
• Driven by achieving results in a target-driven environment;
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, taking ownership of tasks;
• Proficient in customer investigations and relationship-building;
• A functional understanding of how the legal recovery process works along with an awareness of the PPSR and the rights of a supplier who holds a PMSI.
