The Role and our Branch
The Residential Colleges branch is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed College Manager for Geraldton Residential College, one of the 9 residential colleges across Western Australia. Situated just a short walk from the Geraldton city centre, we provide a home-away-from-home for our students, providing them with the best possible supportive and enriching environment to grow and learn while they are away from their families.
The successful applicant will, ideally, be caring, organised and enthusiastic with a genuine desire to assist young people complete their education while living away from home and family. You will be required to provide leadership within the college to deliver a high-quality boarding service that is consistent with Department requirements and meets the needs of stakeholders. You will be expected to build good relationships with people who are in a position to support the college and its operations.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- work according to rostered hours which may include nights, weekends and public holidays
- obtain (prior to first rostered shift working with students) and maintain a current:
- First Aid Certificate – Provide CPR (HLTAID001)
- First Aid Certificate – Provide First Aid (HLTAID003)
- within six months of commencement of employment obtain and maintain a current:
- LR Class Driver’s Licence and a Passenger Transport Driver (PTD) authorisation
- Aquatic Rescue for Group lll Pool Award *
- Surf Rescue Certificate *
- obtain a Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (CHC42021) within six months of commencement of employment.
* Dependent on operational requirements as determined by Manager Residential Colleges.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
