We are seeking to appoint a Psychologist/Counsellor to support our College Wellbeing Team, and to work directly with students, families and staff. A time fraction can be negotiated. The College is considering a FTE 0.6 role, but applicants seeking time fractions from FTE 0.4 to full time are encouraged to apply. A start date will be negotiated for the right applicant.

- Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, or an allied health professional appropriately trained in mental health
- Previous experience working with children and young people
- ideally from ELC to Year 12, and
- preferably within a school setting
- The ability to develop rapport with students of all ages
- An understanding of the principles of positive psychology
- Be able to work effectively with students and their families and apply a range of individual and group interventions appropriate for different issues
- Professional practises which observe ethical and legal requirements: e.g. confidentiality, informed consent, case note documentation and security
- A demonstrated understanding of the emotional needs of children and adolescents
- Experience in conflict resolution, mentoring and mediation and developing strategies to develop resilience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills when working with students, parents and staff
- Experience in crisis management
- The ability to work and contribute productively in a team, particularly with the Executive, amongst teachers and with educational support staff
- The ability to be proactive and take initiative
- Highly developed organisational skills
- A willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the College
- A willingness to promote child safety
Eligibility
- Must hold a valid WWCC.
- Psychologist/allied health qualifications and experience.
- Must be eligible to work within Australia.
