Position Purpose
Reporting to the Finance Director (FD) this role includes responsibility for the provision of contractual and other commercial advice and activity to Keolis Downer Gold Coast (KDGC) and potential involvement with other businesses within the Keolis Downer (KD) Group. This role also holds the responsibility for forming and maintaining positive and effective working relationships with senior executives as well as external legal providers, major stakeholders and other professional service staff.

Position ResponsibilitiesThis role will include, but is not limited to:
- Provide single point representation for all commercial, contractual and supplier relationship matters for Stage 3 extension of the Gold Coast Light Rail, inclusive of all claims, commercial and contractual notices;
- Manage, review, and negotiate contracts in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external commercial / legal advisors, inclusive of the major Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract, and the subsidiary interface deeds to ensure legal and regulatory compliance;
- Ensure all the commercial requirements under the O&M Agreement and related documents are understood and delivered and that relevant parties are aware of their obligations;
- Provide advice, guidance and direction on contracts and associated commercial matters to various members of staff including but not limited to the Finance Director and Senior Leadership Team;
- Liaison with external legal support in other commercially relevant legal matters;
- Provide a central point of contact for claims, commercial and contractual notices;
- Developing and maintaining strong, effective working relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers;
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the commercial and contract management area, including process development, procedural enhancements etc.;
- Involvement in the management of insurance contracts and claims for the business;
- Assist with other Keolis Downer projects and Group business issues from time to time, subject to capacity and priority issues at KDGC; and
- Other duties ancillary to those above and relevant to the role, as reasonably required.
- Work as a Rail Safety Worker Category 4 (non-safety critical worker);
- Proven hands-on experience in commercial and contract management including bids and procurement, negotiation and drafting of contract schedules and statements of work etc.;
- Applicable tertiary qualification relating to Commercial Management, Business or Law;
- Strong financial and commercial acumen;
- Knowledge and proven abilities in contract administration, claims and risk management; and
- Excellent communications skills and ability to negotiate with clients, contractors, legal advisors and company management.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and advise on commercial terms in contracts, coupled with good knowledge of contract and commercial law;
- Ability to manage competing priorities within tight time frames;
- Understanding of commercial and project risk management with sound understanding of construction work, contracts and other processes/procedures
- Knowledge of the construction industry is highly desirable
- Self-directing capabilities which enable you to work collaboratively in a values-based organisation;
- Agile and responsive to changing business requirements;
- Ability to act and behave with integrity and in accordance with Keolis Downer Gold Coast’s code of conduct and values at all times and in such manner so as not to bring KD into disrepute or disrespect;
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively mitigate risks, with a solutions-focused approach; and
- Proven fluent ability in written and spoken English, and legally entitled to live and work in QLD.
