The Opportunity

The Role
Join us in our Maersk Contract Logistics team as a Commercial manager. In this role you will bring value to the business by supporting the Business Development team and generate growth via streamlining the commercial support function and realising synergies from standardised processes across the Flow, OCF and the Cold Store businesses.
Primary functions of this role include:
- Lead Investment Proposals (IP) constructions to satisfy regional and central requirement based on capital requirements
- Assessing and filtering new business opportunities to ensure strategic growth alignment (targeted growth)
- Timely tender support and acting as key commercial focal throughout the bidding process – commercial terms, rates, balance opportunities and risks
- Post tender negotiations and ensure key commercial terms are achieved through contract negotiation
- Post award contract implementation including training key site personnel and knowledge sharing to ensure charging mechanism is aligned with contract
- Contract risk management – scope creep, KPI monitoring (any penalties), contractual commercial mechanisms (GMP, gain sharing, CI etc)
- Support turnaround projects and drive customer negotiations to achieve results
- Drive and support budget and forecast process and ensure alignment between Sales pipeline and realized (converted) business in the budget
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance or related discipline
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in logistics operations
- Strong customer orientation and able to understand and meet customers’ requirements
- Well developed understanding of accounting principles
- Analytical, attention to detail, teamwork orientation and able to communicate with people at all levels
- Experience in the development and management of financial and operational scorecards and KPI’s
- Energetic, out-going, resulted oriented attributes
- Strong MS office proficiency, especially MS Excel and MS Powerpoint
