The Langham Hotel Melbourne is currently looking for a full-time or part-time Commis Chef to join our highly acclaimed fast paced Kitchen team.
You will have the opportunity to work with the Kitchen Brigade which consists of approximately 60 colleagues. This is an exciting opportunity for you to grow your hotel skill set in order to build a career with-in The Langham, shall you be determined and dedicated.
Previous experience in a fast paced working environment will be highly regarded, along with demonstrated experience in large volume production cooking.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of buffet food items
- Set up and assist in the mis-en-place in all kitchen sections
- Ensure their work area is as clean and sanitary as possible in accordance with City and State Health Department codes
- Clean miscellaneous kitchen machinery/equipment periodically.
For this role, your attributes will be inclusive of the following:
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a luxury hotel or similar environment
- Proven skills in cooking breakfast for large volumes
- Strong technical skills within the pan and grill areas
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven organisational & time management skills
- Team player
- Quality awareness
The successful candidate will be required to work rotating shifts
