Location – Coffs Harbour (flexible)

Ongoing Opportunity – Full-time

Salary – $101,947 p.a. - $112,849 p.a. plus Super

Your role

You will work as part of a dynamic team across the Mid North Coast responsible for ensuring the District has available services and supports in place to target reducing entry of Aboriginal children into foster care and improve the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people, families and communities.

You will be required to lead and contribute to the design of innovative service and strategy approaches to achieve growth of Aboriginal led service provision in the District. You will be required to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders across region in order to continue to be able to understand and advocate for service responses to existing and emerging community needs.

The role is best suited to those who are passionate and confident to support a holistic and culturally responsive approach by DCJ to achieving best outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities.

What you’ll do

As part of the Mid North Coast Commissioning & Planning team, you will build and work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders and partners from a relationships based approach.

You will bring your individual and professional experience, knowledge, and analysis of relevant data sources to ensure the team understands and can respond to the unique needs of the communities and Country on which we work.

You will directly contribute to strategic State, District and local plans to respond to emerging or existing needs for vulnerable children, young people, families and communities. This involves engagement in key consultation, co-design and recommissioning processes locally and for State based initiatives and participate in the broader Aboriginal staff network and reference groups.

You'll work as part of a team of 8 Commissioning & Planning Officers in Mid North Coast and connect with Aboriginal staff across the District and with those in New England and Northern NSW regularly as part of the Aboriginal staff network.

What we’re looking for

You will have connections within and across communities in the Mid North Coast, or demonstrated ability in rapidly developing relationships with Aboriginal communities, support the agency to understand your analysis of District priorities and proactively identify and develop achievable and meaningful responses to identified needs.
Have highly developed written and verbal skills, including writing for a variety of audiences and completion of formal and informal correspondence.
You will have existing knowledge of, experience in, or transferrable skills in program design, policy development or operational service delivery in a relevant DCJ services such as early intervention, child protection, specialist homelessness services, domestic and family violence or out of home care
Demonstrated experience in project management, including developing and reporting on project plans or relevant transferrable skills and ability to work independently and as part of a project team
