About the role
Permanent part time position (16 hours per week)
The Ethics Executive Officer plays a significant role in supporting the quality of Family Planning Australia’s research activities in Australia and the Pacific. We are seeking a well organised person with a passion for research to join our team. This position is responsible for providing a full range of timely, confidential executive and administrative support to the Family Planning Australia Ethics Committee. The role works with a range of stakeholders to ensure research projects are planned and implemented according to required standards and balance the risks and benefits to research participants.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
- Graduate qualification in the field of public health, research or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in completing research proposals and ethics applications
- Proven experience in coordinating clinical and non-clinical research studies, including successful ethics applications, revisions and reports
- Demonstrated ability to collate data and information from a range of sources and the ability to effectively track and manage documents, versions and updates.
- Ability to implement and maintain established systems and processes in a research-intensive environment and adapt these if required to meet project requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement to achieve required outcomes and maintain high standards and research integrity
- Excellent time management skills to prioritise workload during busy periods, manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks, meet deadlines and cater to the needs to multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a task-oriented and multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly competent using Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
- Must have Australian working rights
Desirable:
- Experience in the administration and/or assessment of research ethics applications
- Experience as a member of a Human Research Ethics Committee
Other requirements:
- A Criminal Record Check and/or Working with Children Check is/are required prior to commencement in this role
