Job description

We need an energetic, community–minded and fun communications and fundraising expert to join our passionate and progressive for-purpose team.

As the Communications & Fundraising Coordinator, it’ll be your job to assist in developing and maintaining innovative and exciting marketing campaigns, clever communications journeys, engaging social media posts and informative newsletter and website updates. Alongside this you will coordinate our fundraising activities throughout the year, with particular focus on peer-to-peer engagement and our fundraising events. It’s fast paced, exciting and rewarding.

In the role you’ll work within our Fundraising and Communications Team and:

  • take ownership of day-to-day tasks across communications, fundraising and events
  • ensure the positive positioning of our image and reputation with a focus on building understanding and support for neuromuscular conditions and our community, as well as influencing positive opinion and engagement from potential and existing stakeholders to fund our services
  • implement our brand and messaging across all marketing and communications materials using InDesign (if you don’t know how to use it, we’ll get you trained in it!)
  • manage our social media accounts, with a focus on expanding awareness of the conditions and our organisation whilst educating people on all things disability and rare disease
  • build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, particularly our supporters and fundraisers
  • assist in delivering several fundraising events, including coordinating our volunteers and their roles at each one
  • manage the communications journey for participants fundraising for us, egging them on to raise more money to support our community
  • make sure we keep our members and supporters informed in our quarterly digital newsletters

Neuromuscular WA welcome applications from a range of backgrounds, irrespective of ethnicity, faith, sexual orientation, gender identity or lifestyle choice. We encourage applications from people with disabilities, indigenous peoples and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

We know that people from underrepresented communities tend to only apply for roles where they meet all the selection criteria, so if you meet most of the criteria below and can explain how your experience is transferable to the role then we encourage you to think about applying.

Please address the following criteria by providing examples of how you have demonstrated each item in your previous roles - either working or volunteering:

We’d also love it if you have these skills under you hat (but they aren’t essential):

  • sound knowledge of media and PR activities to raise awareness in the public eye
  • photo editing (we love a good deep etched photo)
  • experience in fundraising
  • an understanding of the disability sector and not for profit human service environment
  • developing story lines for promotional videos

We can offer you

  • A welcoming, supportive and fun culture
  • Permanent full-time opportunity
  • A mobile phone
  • Home office set up for work from home days
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, credit card or loan repayments, school fees and more.
  • Packaging up to $2,650 per FBT year for entertainment benefits including meal entertainment, holiday accommodation and venue hire
  • A healthy work-life balance through flexible work options, team building days and and well-being programs
  • Employee support through our dedicated free Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Innovative professional development opportunities
  • End of trip - bike storage and shower facilities
  • Great location, situated on the QEII Medical Centre campus, sharing our building with a range of other small charities, close to bus and train stations

ABOUT YOU:

You are confident and capable of writing engaging and compelling materials for the promotion of our impact and services to our community and supporters (and you have solid literacy skills).

Your ability to move between tasks/events quickly is second to none because you thrive in managing multiple projects at once.

You love meeting new people and engaging them in events, fundraising and support.

You love fun and want to work for a cause that you can become passionate about and play your role in a close-knit team who strive to achieve the best outcomes for our community.

ABOUT US:

Neuromuscular WA is a for-purpose organisation passionate about enhancing the quality of life, happiness and wellbeing of people living with neuromuscular conditions in WA. We are committed to a culture where the safety, empowerment and wellbeing of children, young people and those living with a disability is prioritised and proactive actions are taken to identify risks and protect them from harm.

Neuromuscular conditions (NMCs) are a group of rare, genetic conditions that impact muscles and the nervous system supporting them, causing muscle wasting and weakness. Walking, speaking, breathing and lifting can all be affected, with many relying on mobility equipment and assistance with daily tasks. There is currently no cure.

Since our inception in 1967 we’ve flexed our services in line with our community’s needs, offering support across research, resilience, education, advocacy, equipment, NDIS support and social programs.

These free supports underpin any medical treatment our members are already receiving and are just as crucial as our investment into research. It’s what we call Support for Life as we aim to provide this for as long as we’re needed, to everyone impact by a neuromuscular condition in WA including families.

If you join us, you’ll not only be making a difference to people in our community, you’ll also have a good laugh each day and be part of a small, tight-knit team of 3 on a daily basis, which is part of our larger team of 10. We all look out for each other and step up to help out however necessary.

Our core values drive everything we do as a team and an organisation and you’ll need to commit to them as a team member. They are:
> We are who we say we are
> You matter, you belong
> We’re here for you
> We love fun

This position will close when we find the right candidate so get your application in as soon as possible.

To apply for the role, please submit a cover letter (no more than 2 pages) addressing the criteria and a little bit about yourself, along with a resume to ****@neuromuscularwa.org.au

If you have any questions, please also use the above email to ask.
