About Bric Housing 

Bric Housing is a non-profit community housing organisation that provides secure and affordable homes for people in our community in housing need. Our vision is much bigger than providing a house for our tenants but a home, a place they can build their life and see all the possibilities of their future.  

At present we manage 940 tenancies across the inner and outer northern suburbs of Brisbane, as well as Redcliffe and Caboolture. Our enthusiasm and dedication to making a difference has paved the way for exciting plans in our future.  

About the role 

In our journey to enhance our tenant engagement, experience and social impact, we are searching for someone that strongly aligns to our core values of diversity, excellence, integrity, respect, safety & well-being.  

This is a newly created position where you can play a key role in shaping and influencing our service delivery in community development and engagement.  

As a Community Development & Engagement Officer, operating in community housing environment you will be responsible for creating connected and thriving communities, where customers are empowered and have opportunities to be engaged in their local community, have access to education, training, and employment opportunities. You will work closely with tenants, local organisations, and stakeholders to create an inclusive and supportive environment.  

Embracing a cohesive approach, you will actively engage with our tenants and Housing & Community Officers, to gain insight of the tenants and community needs and aspirations. You will develop and implement tenant and Community Engagement strategy, a range of programs that promotes social inclusion and opportunities for tenant to provide feedback and have a say in how Bric deliver our services. 

You will build and foster relationships with local agencies, service providers and community resources to appropriately connect tenants with necessary services.

About You 

You will be an enthusiastic, dedicated, resilient and creative person with a passion for creating connected and thriving communities. You will have experience in a similar role, focusing on empowering individuals and communities, enabling them to thrive.  You are an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with demonstrated experience in building and fostering partnerships. You will also have experience in identifying grant funding opportunities that allows for the delivery of community programs that meets the needs and desires for the particular community. You are able to build new partnerships and deliver innovative programs that maximise the opportunities for Bric tenants to have a life and a future.  

You will be comfortable working with people from all cultures and backgrounds, including varying socio-economic statuses and lifestyle choices. 

You appreciate having autonomy in your role as you are confident with your ability to prioritise your time, communicate effectively and balance a diverse workload. 

You will also have: 

Essential 

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in community development and engagement or similar role  

Qualification in Community Services or equivalent work experience  

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Experience working with various stakeholders. 

Customer Service Experience  

Demonstrated analytical skills with proven attention to detail. 

Sensitivity to and understanding of issues affecting socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with disabilities and people from a non-English speaking background. 

Desirable 

Degree in Community Development, sociology, or a related field 

Experience developing and implementing customer forums. 

Grant submissions, tender writing, and evaluation reports.
