We Love Our Midwives!
The Registered Midwife will provide antenatal and postnatal home visiting for women who are eligible for same.
The Registered Midwife is responsible for the provision of client centred, evidence-based care and is expected to embrace a practice development philosophy in the delivery of that care. Care will be provided in a quality framework and promote positive health outcomes. The midwife will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individual/s and the multidisciplinary health care team using a contemporary practice model.
Care will be planned considering ethnicity, culture, gender, spiritual values, sexuality, age, disability and economic and social factors in consultation with the family as all or any of these may impact on their health journey.
The midwife will work in a multidisciplinary team environment, show leadership and embrace change in the coordination and delivery of their care, inclusive of appropriate referral to, and in consultation with, other relevant health professionals, service providers and community.
The Registered Midwife will work in partnership with women to give them the necessary, support, care and advice during the postpartum period. This includes being able to identify complications and seek timely referral or consultation to the appropriate health care provider. Care provided will be aligned to meet the ANMC National Competency Standards for the Midwife and the mandated directives, standards, policies and procedures of the Local Health District.
