MRC Tas Aged and Community Services connects older people, and people with a disability and their carers, with social activities and support to live at home, be part of the community and to access services. MRC Tas also provides cultural education to aged care service providers and to other community organisations. Services have a focus on cultural needs, wellness and independence.
About the role
You will build positive rapport with clients and provide personal care, meal preparation and domestic assistance while promoting person-directed decision making.
This is a casual position, with shifts available 7 days a week.
The successful candidate will have:
- Certificate 3 in Aged Care and/or Certificate 3 in Home and Community Care
- Skills and experience in aged and/or community services and experience working in a cross-cultural setting in the health, social or community services sector.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues common in the CALD population and knowledge of the barriers older CALD clients may face in accessing services.
- Ability and commitment to deliver support programs and group activities to clients, with a focus on building and/or maintaining client independence
- Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Effective written communication skills and demonstrated ability to complete case notes
- Administrative, organisational and time management skills; including demonstrated competence in the use of technology and ability to keep accurate records
- A driver’s licence.
