At Smart Energy the Company Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the company and ensuring its financial health. This role involves preparing financial records, producing and analysing reports, making recommendations to improve financial performance, and supporting compliance with taxation requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial statements.
- Support the finance team with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
- Produce reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain budget work papers and support the budgeting process.
- Oversee revenue processes and ensure accurate revenue reporting and recognition.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of the financial statements.
- Assist with taxation requirements, namely Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), and income tax, ensuring compliance and accurate filing.
- Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations.
- Work with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance on growth, cost reduction, and revenue enhancement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in a similar accounting role
- Strong understanding AASB and IFRS
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB) and MS Office, especially Excel or Google Suite
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
- Familiarity with FBT, GST, and income tax requirements.
