Our client is a mining services company based in Mackay and are currently seeking an Accountant to join their team. Known for their unwavering commitment to safety and operational excellence, this organisation specialises in providing essential services to the mining industry, contributing to the efficient and safe operation of mines in the region.
This newly created position is ideally suited for an Accountant with prior experience in the mining industry, a related heavy services domain, or a strong interest in the sector and eager to enter the field. About the role
As the Company Accountant, you will champion a customer-centric approach and play a vital role in managing the financial operations of the business. Your responsibilities will encompass executing financial closing tasks, meeting reporting obligations, and driving financial performance across multiple entities.
Key responsibilities will also include:
- Manage all aspects of financial accounting for operations, including EOM processes, accounting transactions, payroll, financial reporting requirements, and general accounting tasks.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts to provide insights into performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure accurate recording of expenses, inventory management, and cost control measures.
- Monitor compliance, assist in the preparation of annual financial statements, and liaise with external auditors during the audit process.
- Provide financial analysis and support for projects, initiatives, and decision-making processes.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA, or working towards certification.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar accounting role, with previous exposure to the mining industry or related heavy industries serving the mining sector considered advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to exert influence across all organisational levels and with diverse stakeholders.
