An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Compliance Manager to lead and manage the compliance and audit functions at a national level. Reporting to the Executive HSET Manager, you will work closely with stakeholders, influencing staff and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Core accountabilities include:
- Lead and manage the compliance and audit functions.
- Develop and implement strategies to confirm the effectiveness of the safety management system, monitor compliance trends and provide relevant advice to management.
- Facilitate compliance with legislative obligations, company policies, standards and procedures
- Investigate compliance failures and advise on corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of safety cases for Major Hazard Facilities, confirm alignment with the safety management system and legislative requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities on compliance, promote the company’s safety position and keep abreast of legislative changes and industry standards.
The role will be based in our Brisbane office with flexible work from home arrangements.
Essential requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Science, Engineering or related disciplines.
- Significant practical experience in a HSE role in the dangerous goods / explosives or related industries.
- Practical experience in the development and management of safety for Major Hazard Facilities (MHF)s.
- People management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and facilitate change.
- OHS systems lead auditor qualifications, with experience in developing and implementing audit programs.
- Sound knowledge of explosives and dangerous goods regulatory framework, including product authorisations, licensing and other permit requirements.
- Experience in continuous improvement of safety management systems, document management and ISO certification processes (ISO450001, ISO9001, ISO14001).
- Sound knowledge of process safety, technical risk management processes and related regulatory frameworks.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting qualifications.
- Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with a creative approach to problem solving.
- Current Open Australian Driver Licence.
- Valid Explosives Security Clearance (or willing to obtain).
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with proven ability to cope with competing deadlines.
