Position Overview:
As a hands-on Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in fostering and sustaining a culture of compliance across our organization. Your primary responsibility will involve overseeing and managing all aspects of compliance within our transport operations, ensuring full alignment with industry regulations and standards for processes, vehicles, drivers, and associated activities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance strategies, policies, and procedures in accordance with industry regulations and standards.
- Identify gaps and improvements, collaborating with all business members to provide training and implement necessary changes.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address compliance gaps, devising effective action plans to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including management, operations, and HR teams, providing guidance and training on compliance matters.
- Stay abreast of changes in transport industry regulations, laws, and standards, communicating updates to relevant teams.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing compliance controls, proposing and implementing improvements as needed.
- Coordinate and assist in compliance-related investigations and internal audits, ensuring prompt resolution of identified issues.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and industry associations to stay informed about best practices and maintain positive relationships.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities, including documentation, reports, and training records.
- Prepare and deliver compliance reports to management, highlighting key findings, areas of concern, and recommended actions.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Compliance Officer, preferably in the transport industry.
- Strong understanding of transport industry regulations and compliance requirements, including knowledge of relevant legislation and governing bodies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Solid knowledge of audit and inspection processes, including experience in conducting compliance audits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in maintaining records and documentation.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing regulations and industry standards.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools used for compliance management is desirable.
