The Opportunity
As the Compliance Officer for Australian operations, your primary mission is to ensure that the business adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements. This encompasses a wide array of obligations including AFSL requirements, ASIC obligations and fostering a culture of robust compliance and governance across the Australian branch. Your role will also encompass overseeing compliance training, record – keeping, monitoring, and analytical functions to ensure the organisation remains in regulatory alignment.
The Compliance Officer - will form part of the EML team responsible for:
- Assessing and monitoring EML’s regulatory compliance obligations within Australia.
- providing compliance advice and support to all levels of EML Australia’s staff and where necessary, providing compliance advice and support to the EML Group globally.
- formulating and implementing strategies for assessing and managing regulatory compliance and risk mitigation within EML business practices and decisions; and
- reporting to EML staff, management and EML Group’s board of directors on changes to Australia’s regulatory landscape which may impact EML’s business.
In addition, the Compliance Officer will support the Compliance team in the ongoing provision of compliance reporting frameworks, maintaining standards of project delivery, and assisting the Risk team in assessing and mitigating the impact of AFLS risks and financial crime on EML’s business.
Key Responsibilities:
To be successful in this role you will have previous experience within a financial compliance team with a focus on AFSL and AML/CTF operations and investigations. The Compliance Officer will assist the Senior Compliance Manager by:
- Liaising with AFCA and internal dispute resolution teams to handle and respond to cardholder’s complaints in timely manner.
- Approving the customer’s disclosures and marketing approvals and making sure that organisation is compliant with its AFSL obligations.
- Maintain various registers, including incidents and breaches, training, complaints, conflict of interests, and regulatory updates.
- Enhance the governance framework within the business unit.
- Conduct risk assessments and investigate incidents and breaches.
- Providing AFSL training to the staff members.
- Ensuring provision of financial service aligns with AFSL authorizations.
What We Are Looking For:
- University degree qualification in Commerce, Law, Business, or related discipline.
- At least 3 years’ experience in AFSL compliance within financial services or a similar industry, with experience with the payments industry a bonus.
- Previous direct/indirect engagement with financial services regulators (i.e., ASIC) is desirable; and
- Broad knowledge of legislative, regulatory and industry standards impacting the financial services and payments industry.
