The Brisbane Marriott Hotel is seeking a  Charming Host to lead our Conference and Events Sales Team.

Perfectly situated in the CBD next to the Brisbane River and the iconic Story Bridge, the hotel’s riverside location is in close proximity to public transport hubs, and a short walk from the Queen Street Mall.

The Role

As the Conference & Events Sales Manager, you will play a key role in providing support to the Head of Consumers Operations to sell the event and group business across all segments.  You will report to the Director of Sales.

Your key strategy will be to maximise revenue and yield opportunities generated from leads generated from the proactive sales team and reactive sales functions.

To be Charming you will have:

  • Two or more years’ experience in a similar role within C&E sales department (preferred)
  • Business Development and Sales experience, including knowledge and proficiency in all hotel business, wedding and social event market segments.
  • Highly proficient planning and organisational abilities.
  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting principles.
  • Proficiency in various IT software systems: Microsoft Office, Opera, Catering System knowledge
  • Service oriented with an eye and passion for hotel operations and customer care. 
  • Ability promote team culture while leading a team and demonstrate initiative in a dynamic environment.
  • Understanding of emerging trends in the industry
  • Confident and articulate communication, negotiation, relationship and networking skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with drive, ambition and high level of energy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and Manage associates, delegate tasks accordingly, and ensure that operational standards and procedures are followed and hotel policies are adhered to.
  • Be responsible for the Management of the (C&E) Sales team and drive revenue strategies to achieve set sales targets.
  • Manage and maintain the Conference Incentive Database of key contacts/clients.
  • Develop and implement sales conversion targets for the team and ensure these are measured monthly.
  • Identify need periods and periods of high demand and implement appropriate strategies to maximise revenue.
  • Monitor competitors within region and assess relevance to current sell strategies.
  • Prepare and make recommendations on sales forecasts ensuring accuracy within agreed ratios.
  • Prepare weekly forecast report detailing upcoming events and communicate same to all operating departments.
  • Provide quotations for C&E proposals covering venue, function, menu and accommodation costs ensuring revenue is maximised.
  • Ensure team succeeds in delivering an exceptional event in order to guarantee client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and host familiarisation and site inspection activities including follow-up.
