About the role
This interesting fulltime opportunity for 12 months which has the potential of being extended, will require the successful applicant to be part of a diverse team who live and work in a small multicultural community based at the Lake Victoria Storage facility.
Lake Victoria is a remote locality north of the River Murray in NSW, approximately 100 km northeast of Renmark and 65 km west of Wentworth, being the townships with the nearest shopping, medical and educational facilities.
The successful candidate will be required during the working week to live at the lake in private self-contained accommodation is provided and will also be required to share in regular rostered weekend overtime as well as some out of hours work.
Along with this you will also be responsible for the following:
- Participating in diverse range of earthmoving activities onsite equipment includes but not limited to Grader, loader, backhoe, skid steer, roller, truck and dogs, water cart, semi and float
- Civil construction works, house maintenance, water sampling, dam safety inspections, cultural monitoring and protection.
- Land management – feral animal control – weed control – revegetation, vegetation and feral animal monitoring in side-by-side vehicles
- Able to work in a team or autonomously.
- Maintenance of the Lake, Frenchman’s creek, Rufus River and their related infrastructure and environment.
- Assist in the maintenance and operation of surrounding locks and weirs.
- Be part of some major projects with potential for skills development throughout
About the person:
Our ideal person will have a background in civil construction, land management and general maintenance work, be a competent and responsible operator who is diligent in care and Maintenance of equipment. You will also need to be skilled with small machinery, power and hand tools and be totally compliant with safe work procedures.
This role will suit someone who loves working outdoors being surrounded by nature and likes working in a team as well as by themselves.
Key requirements of the role include:
- Any suitable trade qualifications will be highly desirable
- White card is required
- Previous experience using powered tools and plant equipment
- Valid Driver’s Licence (plus HR or HC truck licence highly desirable)
- Additional tickets will be highly desirable (e.g. Earthmoving, chemcert, NSW traffic management)
- Pre-Employment medical, Police Check, Traffic Check, Right to Work in Australia Check and Reference Checks will be required as part of the recruitment process if you are successful in moving through the process

Benefits
- Pay rate depending on experience is in the rage of $59,357.48 – $68,764.04 per annum plus allowances
- Location allowance of $5,503 per annum
- Construction allowance of $2,040.76 per annum
- Retention allowance of $10,000 per annum
- Rostered overtime 6 hours a month plus potential for more based on business needs
- Onsite pool facility for out of hours use
- Lock 7 and the beautiful Murray River is only 4kms down the road.
- 9-day fortnight
- Typical workday is from 7:00am to 4pm and build up 1.5h flexi time every fortnight
- 4 weeks annual leave a year plus 1 travel day
- 2 days wellbeing leave a year
- For the 12 months a self-contained unit is provided.
