Our Energy and Resources practice is looking for consultants/Senior Consultants to join our growing advisory team in Sydney.
Our team has a long history of industry expertise, deep analytical capability and we work collaboratively. We are not new to decarbonisation - this has been the core of what we have done for 10+ years.
Climate change is the most important topic of our generation. The actions, activities and steps companies take right now will determine the future impact on our planet, our commitments as a country and our success on meeting net zero as companies and organisations. What you will be doing
· You will be working at the forefront of the energy sector alongside market specialists with deep industry knowledge where you will be able to deploy and then broaden your skill set and expertise.
· Developing decarbonisation strategies for large corporate consumers - including renewable energy contracting, carbon offsetting strategies, new technology appraisal and an actionable implementation roadmap
· Helping businesses better measure, understand and manage their Scope 1-3 emissions under different future climate scenarios, to then develop appropriate decarbonisation strategies
· Working with developers of large infrastructure and green fuel projects to commercially-optimise the design, quantify demand for new products and supply chain constraints
· Supporting a new entrant retailer from strategy and business plan through to product development, business set-up and trading system selection
· Working with market participants and regulators to quantify the value of behind-the-meter generation, and define the products and business models which allow market participants to realise this value.
· Defining investment portfolio strategy and offtake options for large-scale renewable and storage projects, from pricing flexible contract structures to assessing the impact of contracting options on gross margins and risk
· Working with Distribution Network Operators to define strategic and operational model changes required with the increasing penetration of distributed renewable energy, feeding into market design and business implications.
· Working with energy market bodies on policy and regulatory reforms, including the five-minute settlement rule change, retailer reliability obligation and the development of Renewable Energy Zones (REZs), design of long-term contracting tenders
Your skills and experience
We recruit individuals at all levels based on merit. Some of the key sills we are looking for are:
· You have an analytical degree, in the fields of economics, maths, sciences, engineering, finance, operations, or research
· You have a passion for decarbonisation, climate change, energy, carbon, or green fuels
· You have demonstrated aptitude and appetite for using structured problem-solving and analysis to solve client issues, and clarity in explaining methods and concepts.
· You are comfortable in handling data and numerical analysis
· You are personable and professional, with excellent communication and presentation skills and an effective team player
· You have at least 2 years of experience in the energy, carbon, or related sectors desirable (although skills are more important than knowledge).
