The Orthopaedic Consultant is a senior member of the orthopaedics team and is responsible for the perioperative care of general orthopaedic and trauma surgery patients. The Orthopaedic Consultant is responsible for managing the care of all patients allocated to them in a multi-disciplinary team environment e.g. in collaboration with Resident Medical Officers, Registrars, other Consultants, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals.
Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration.
There are 4 operating theatres and 3 delivery suites.
The Hospital:
It is under 10 years old, has approximately 96 public beds and is co-located with a 20bed private hospital. It provides extensive services including general medicine, general, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmic, and gynaecological surgery, and obstetrics in addition to an emergency department and a high dependency unit.
