Job description

Do you live and breathe content marketing in all formats and channels? Do you have proven experience in using strategic storytelling to drive engagement with B2B and B2C audiences? Do you thrive on getting under the hood of brands and immersing yourself in a client’s world? Then hello! This could be your next big career move.

Heads & Tales – Hardie Grant Media’s content agency – is on the hunt for a skilled mid-level Content Manager looking to take a step up to lead the planning, development and distribution of content for some of Australia’s top brands in the manufacturing and construction industry.

This is a rare opportunity to join our Sydney-based team in a permanent full-time role with flexible working arrangements.

To apply, please submit your CV along with a cover letter telling us about what you consider to be your content superpower by Wednesday 3 April.

About the role

We’re looking for a strategic thinker with creative vision to deliver on content strategies for some of our key clients. Someone who is just as comfortable planning out an epic multi-channel content calendar as they are rolling up their sleeves and collaborating with designers, video producers and writers to create the best-in-class print, social and digital content for which Heads & Tales is known.

Your day-to-day could include planning content for a lead-nurturing email program, brainstorming thumb-stopping social executions, concepting and briefing downloadable guides and videos, or editing articles to ensure they are web-worthy and word-perfect.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about storytelling, have excellent communication skills, a good understanding of digital marketing strategies as well as strong stakeholder management and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

About us

Heads & Tales is a creative content agency (with an editorial edge) on a mission to help our clients tell better stories, develop customer relationships, and generate revenue.

You’ll be part of a close-knit team of passionate creatives – editors, designers, strategists, video producers and account managers – working with some of Australia’s biggest brands in retail, health, travel, banking, construction, automotive and lifestyle.

We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and, as part of the Hardie Grant Media network, work closely with our sibling agencies Reload Media and Tide Communications.

Key responsibilities

  • Content strategy: Help to develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy. You will use your content marketing expertise, category insights and performance metrics to develop a dynamic calendar of content for clients that delivers on their communication goals and broader business objectives.
  • Content creation: Create and/or commission on-point content from both internal and external contributors including writers, designers, animators, video producers and photographers. You will manage projects from end to end and be the brand voice guardian, ensuring every piece of content meets – or exceeds – our client’s expectations.
  • Content calendar management: plan, develop and maintain an editorial calendar to ensure consistent content production and timely delivery
  • Content governance: establish and/or follow content governance processes, including content approval workflows and version control.
  • SEO optimisation: plan and optimise content for search engines to improve visibility and drive organic traffic to digital assets.
  • Performance analysis: track and analyse content performance metrics using tools such as Google Analytics and social media analytics to inform the content strategy and optimise efforts.
  • Client management: build strong client relationships through excellent communications, immersing yourself in both their brand and their sector, leading content workshops, managing requests/feedback in a timely manner, following best practice in content approval workflows, and helping to problem solve when required.
  • Agency village: collaborate closely with both our own HGM agencies and/or external agencies that share our client and might require our assistance with creative assets.

Core competencies

  • Minimum five years working as a digital content producer/manager in an agency or in-house role.
  • Experience crafting content that connects with and drives action from a B2B audience (if you’ve done B2C as well, even better!)
  • Proven ability to plan and create content for social (LinkedIn and Meta a must), email, blog articles, downloadable guides (look books, whitepapers), video scripts, and more.
  • A proven understanding of the content marketing channel mix and what it takes to deliver on a content strategy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the ability to translate complex technical information into messaging that resonates with the target audience.
  • Client-friendly and can-do attitude.
  • Strong SEO skills, preferably experience using SEMrush or similar search tools to improve online visibility, drive website traffic and improve user engagement.
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and manage different streams of work across a variety of channels and formats.
  • Confidence presenting ideas and challenging team members or clients to try new things and think differently.
  • Experience measuring the success of content including, but not limited to, Google Analytics and social media listening tools.
  • Understanding of brand and marketing fundamentals

Desirable

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software
  • Experience working with influencers / brand ambassadors on content campaigns.
  • Interest in and experience producing content for brands in construction, property, architecture and design.

You live and breathe our company values:

  • Stay ahead of the game
  • Do the right thing
  • Work together
  • Best in class
  • Nothing is fixed
  • Make an impact

Employment Benefits

Aside from the usual perks of working in an agency, a core pillar of what defines Heads & Tales (as part of Hardie Grant) is our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. We are proud to say this is reflected through the benefits we provide our team, including but not limited to:
