About The Role
Are you ready to lead a dynamic team in the pursuit of manufacturing excellence? We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Continuous Improvement Manager to elevate our operations at the Sunshine site, located in the heart of Melbourne's west.
As the Continuous Improvement Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Hub Manager, you'll lead a team with a shared management responsibility of 24 staff, driving the production of quality paint at the lowest possible cost to meet customer demand.
What You'll Do for Us:
- Develop a comprehensive framework to guide and direct all lean manufacturing processes.
- Identify and articulate Continuous Improvement opportunities with a focus on project deliverables.
- Lead and manage dedicated focus teams using Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Implement Continuous Improvement plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Co-ordinate activities in 5S / SHIELD programs in the manufacturing plant and environment so that 5S standards are achieved and the HS&E objectives are met.
- Identify CI opportunities and prepare a feasibility report which includes a cost benefit analysis of the business opportunities and an implementation plan, so the Plant Manager can approve and direct CI projects.
- Manage approved CI projects through detailed, time-phased plans.
- Implement new quality initiatives and improve existing systems to standardize and measure work methods and processes.
- Oversee plant performance, manage operations staff, and deputise for plant supervisors to meet production targets.
- Analyse and interpret data on equipment utilisation to optimise reliability.
- Train and manage operators in a range of specified tasks (safety, quality procedures, SOI's etc.) within AkzoNobel standards ensuring productivity and efficiency gains are achieved and performance standards are met.
- Tertiary qualification in Science or Engineering (Minimum TAFE certificate in production management or equivalent).
- 5+ years of supervisory/management experience.
- Practical understanding of OHS&E issues.
- Working knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management systems.
