The Role
Key responsibilities and expectations for the APS6 Contract Manager role include:
- Oversee and manage capability (complex) contracts associated with the F/A-18F and EA-18G aircraft and/or training systems in support of Air Combat (Air Force) objectives and broader Defence outcomes.
- Monitor and manage contract administration, performance and risks against the contract and contribute to assurance action/s.
- Develop and deliver procurement and contract management documentation including templates, schedule, correspondence, reports, submissions, plans and strategies, risk and performance reviews, contract change proposals, and internal reports.
- Exercise judgment in the interpretation of legislation and policy and initiative in the application of practices and procedures for commercial activities to support capability outcomes.
- Manage key stakeholder relationships in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Supervise a small team of contract and commercial specialists.
- Provide contemporary commercial policy expertise/advice to internal and external stakeholders.
The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace.
Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA). This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased.
It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.

Located at RAAF Base Amberley, near Ipswich in QLD, Air Combat Electronic Attack Systems Program Office (ACEASPO), in close collaboration with Industry, is responsible for the in-service sustainment support and upgrades of the Air Force's F/A-18F and EA-18G fast jets. The APS6 Contracts Manager performs a critical role within the ACEASPO Enabling Services Management Unit. This team directly contributes to the effective and efficient development and management of contemporary commercial arrangements that deliver the capability requirements sought by Air Force, and ensure value for money for the Commonwealth.
