RoleThe Contracts Advisor role is to provide clear, concise and astute commercial advice in relation to operations and ensure that project delivery staff have the necessary tools & support to achieve project success. A key part of the role will be imparting your detailed knowledge of contracts on project delivery teams to ensure projects are set up for, and achieve, their commercial objectives.
Responsibilities include;
- Upon award (or pending award) of a project contract, prepare notice and subcontract templates, a flow chart and risk and obligations matrix for contract administrative purposes.
- For each project, amending subcontract agreements so they are compliant and back-to-back (where possible) with head contracts.
- Procure insurance certificates, performance securities and company guarantees as required for contract compliance.
- Preparing notice and variation registers to support and track commercial issues on projects.
- Updating the suite of standard form subcontracts such as subcontract works, services, purchase order, consultancy, independent contractor and plant hire agreements and others as required from time to time.
- Preparing and providing training sessions on legal and contractual topics at both corporate and project level.
- Serve as the primary elevation point of contact for contractual matters on relevant projects, providing guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise and support any contracts administrators, finance administrators and Subcontract sponsors, on commercial issues.
- Legal, business, or commercial contracts background and associated qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience reviewing and advising on construction contracts
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Accuracy in analysis and reporting detail
- Ability to form strong relationships across the various internal teams.
- An eye for detail even when working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- High-level contract administration, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently, with some supervision and to take initiative.
- Experience on construction projects will be highly regarded.
