ABOUT THE ROLE
Position
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic communications professional to join Council's Communications and Customer Service section. Reporting to Council’s Manager Communications and Customer Service, this position is responsible for leading a small team to successfully implement communication programs and projects to ensure Council’s communications meet the expectations and standards of Council and the community.
Key focus areas of the position will be to support the development of Council’s corporate documents and communication publications, facilitate media promotion and maintain the professionalism and consistency of Council’s branding.

- Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in developing communication and engagement plans.
- Demonstrated experience in developing internal and external facing digital and traditional communications such as correspondence, newsletters, magazines, factsheets, media releases and social media posts.
- Demonstrated experience in developing briefs and liaising with graphic designers and content creators.
- Demonstrated experience in and understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines in developing Integrated Planning and Reporting documents and Agency Information Guide.
- Proven experience in social media and website content management systems.
- Proven excellent interpersonal skills, including high level ability to negotiate and consult on complex matters and explain legislation and policy requirements through effective written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a small team to effectively deliver and achieve section objectives.
The rewards
- An annual salary range of $87,700 to $100,700 per annum (plus 11% superannuation) dependent upon skills, experience and qualifications.
