How you’ll make a difference
You will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective execution of a coordinated Mechanical, Electrical and Controls response to support the City’s infrastructure maintenance. This will be achieved through the forward planning and allocation of resources to perform equipment inspections, maintenance, repairs, scheduled contracted maintenance tasks, reliability improvements and equipment upgrades through minor projects.
You will have six direct reports, who are responsible for the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Project scopes, along with the Controls team. The key responsibilities of the role are:
- Ensure WH&S, Environmental and Water Quality obligations are met and incorporated in all programs
- Provide day to day support to the Operational Maintenance team who provide 24hr preventative and reactive maintenance activities to essential water supply and sewerage systems
- Monitor the SAP asset and maintenance management system to ensure all planned and reactive activities are tracked and monitored to drive optimum plant performance and resource usage
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement and understanding of the performance of assets through all phases of the equipment life cycle and operational processes supporting this aim
- Ensure the execution of forward planning and allocation of resources to effectively perform equipment inspections, maintenance, repairs and reliability improvements
- Lead the development of optimal asset management strategies across the range of assets and mechanical instrumentation
- Clearly breakdown and communicate strategy into programs of work to meet overall delivery aims.
- Align people’s skills, strengths and understand team dynamics to meet desired outcomes.
What you bring to your new role
- Bachelor’s degree of Mechanical, Electrical or Controls or equivalent knowledge (Desirable)
- Bachelor’s degree of Business Administration or equivalent knowledge (Desirable)
- Substantial maintenance management experience within multi-disciplined teams including Mechanical, Electrical and Controls teams
- A sound understanding of asset management principles
- Advanced experience in analysing data and interrogating maintenance management systems and SAP to provide data driven decision making tools
- Demonstrated ability to develop and motivate staff
- Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
- The ability to deliver high quality service to internal and external customers and respond proactively to customer expectations
- Experience in the execution and management of externally provided maintenance support services including scheduled servicing activities
- Resilience and determination in engaging stakeholders to initiate, develop, and implement improvement strategy initiatives across a variety of disciplines, including the technical, planning, administration, and assets teams
- The experience to provide proactive, measured and constructive leadership to the MEC workforce
- A determination to build relationships within the wider department to achieve required outcomes
