The Gold Coast SUNS are committed to connecting with our community and inspiring people to be part of our extraordinary journey. To achieve this, we are currently looking for a Community Programs Coordinator to deliver the Club’s community engagement program.
Reporting to the Community Programs & Engagement Manager, the role will facilitate key community events, player appearances and our Prep – Grade 12 school programs.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate operations and delivery of GC SUNS School Engagement Programs - Play To Your Strengths, SUNS Fitness, Yalgan SUN, a Day in the Life, and ACTIVE Lab.
- Develop and facilitate school booking protocols.
- Train players, staff, and AFL Queensland in program delivery.
- Liaise with stakeholders for professional program delivery.
- Report program progress via Salesforce and other mechanisms.
- Coordinate Player Appearances whilst adhering to appearance protocols and reporting.
- Work with Media & Communications team for community activity capture.
- Assist in the delivery of charity and community partner outcomes.
- Coordinate relevant community-themed match day events.
- Attend and assist in coordinating match day activities as directed.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong personal brand which personifies the Gold Coast SUNS values.
- A current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one prior to commencing).
- Experience organising community events/activities.
- Effective time management and ability to work under pressure.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with school children from Prep to Year 12.
- Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to represent the Gold Coast SUNS in the community.
- Experience organising athletes or VIPs for appearances (desirable).
- Experience working in AFL or professional sport (desirable).
- A high level of empathy and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the community through the Club’s programs.
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and a team player.
Due to the nature of community activations and events, the role will occasionally be required to work outside of normal office hours. Therefore, the successful candidate must be available to work on evenings and weekends when required.
