Job description

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Urban Planners and specialists
  • Hybrid working and central Camberwell office location
  • $146,899 per annum (plus super, plus monthly RDO) 

Play a key role in the delivery of statutory planning and related services to the community
 
A little bit about the role

A rare senior leadership opportunity has opened to oversee a team of Urban Planners and to lead department process improvements. Reporting to the Manager Urban Planning, the Coordinator Urban Planning will:

  • Oversee a team of Urban Planners including a multidisciplinary portfolio of specialists  
  • Lead and motivate staff to ensure they maintain a high level of professional ethics and resident focus, while contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace culture
  • Assist the Manager Urban Planning in the preparation and presentation of reports to Council and Committee meetings
  • In conjunction with the Manager, develop, implement and review annual business plans
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to team members in preparation of reports for Council, VCAT, Panels Victoria, the Courts and other public forums
  • Assess and determine planning applications and other statutory planning related functions in accordance with Council’s schedule of delegation

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in leading, motivating, mentoring and developing a team of professionals 
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in analysing and proactively improving systems and processes 
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed negotiation skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Excellent working knowledge of the Victorian planning system, including relevant legislation and policy and planning principles
  • Exceptional customer service skills including conflict resolution and relationship building
