About the role
We are on the hunt for a commercially minded, sales driven person to join our passionate Commercial department in the newly created position of Corporate Business Executive. Reporting to the Head of Corporate and New Business, this is an integral role within our business, tasked with driving revenue, building relationships and supporting the commercial objectives of the Storm Group (Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club and Sunshine Coast Lightning).
The Corporate Business Executive will be primarily accountable for growing the Storm Executive Club, with a focus on establishing genuine relationships with existing clients, driving the acquisition of new prospects, delivering premium and bespoke experiences, and creating networking and business lead opportunities for all stakeholders. The role will also support the Sunshine Coast Lightning Executive Club as needed. This position is also responsible for generating new revenue, such as selling corporate products, game day hospitality, broader commercial partnerships, and the creation of new revenue opportunities.
This role will work closely with the wider commercial team and other key stakeholders so the ability to be collaborative, juggle multiple priorities and stakeholders and maintain a commercial lens will be key to success.
This role will be responsible for a number of key deliverables including, but not limited to:
- Managing the Storm Executive Club program and supporting the Sunshine Coast Lightning Executive Club program and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders on the budgeting, selling and executing events within these initiatives.
- Creating genuine ROI for Storm Executive Club members through facilitating introductions and business opportunities outside of the Marquee Events.
- Prospecting and developing a qualified pipeline to achieve corporate sales targets, whilst leveraging existing relationships to accelerate and expand new business opportunities.
- Focussing on servicing and retaining key executive partners as well as citing opportunities for upselling into additional programs.
- Sourcing potential new partners of the Storm and Sunshine Lightning Executive Clubs.
- Implementing creative ways to integrate the Storm Executive Club & Sunshine Coast Lightning Executive Club programs.
- Building and maintaining internal and external relationships with key stakeholders in both Storm & Lightning programs.
- Supporting the Head of Corporate & New Business with managing budgets, executing events, and selling to agreed targets set each year.
- Selling gameday hospitality and corporate hospitality packages.
- Developing new assets and taking an innovative approach regarding commercialisation opportunities.
- Driving and supporting the corporate area to deliver on commercial KPIs, revenue targets and growth objectives for the Club.
- Leading the execution of operational accountabilities within the corporate team, including monitoring day to day operations.
- Assisting the Commercial team on game day and events as required and hosting or attending sponsorship events across the year.
The successful candidate will possess:
- 2-3 years minimum experience in a similar role within the commercial sales environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing or related discipline.
- Proven experience in sponsorship and/or sales roles with an excellent understanding of business disciplines and processes and an understanding of the sponsorship sector.
- Proven track record of securing new business revenue.
- Strong desire to achieve and meet team and individual KPIs.
- Strong network of commercial/Corporate Business contacts.
- Outstanding relationship building skills, and the ability to leverage these to achieve outcomes.
- Experience in the sporting or entertainment sector will be highly regarded.
